February 28th
Well, after the Tsunami alert was lifted, DS and DDL came over for cards and food. In a role reversal, they brought US new toys--an new Wii Resort game with new controllers. They brought along their own controllers and we joined in a family game of bowling.
Remember the movie "Christmas Story?" Ralphie lusted after a Daisy BB gun, and all the adults brushed him off with the admonition "You'll poke yer eyes out..."
December 01st
Part of me died when I opened the protective plastic bag. Obviously it wasn't protective enough against the all-encompassing moisture that IS east Hawaii.....
DS made it when he was about 6. His favorite snack at the time was Pillsbury muffins. He would pack them into a pie tin, bake and enjoy them for the next couple of days. But one time he forgot they were in the oven, and didn't remember until they were baked solid as hard-tack.
August 15th
....is out there somewhere. I woke this morning feeling quite happy and refreshed, and realized that a song was BIG in my head, and on the tip of my tongue....

It's easy to recognize the traits which make us family. We have the K nose. We twiddle our thumbs. We have those stupid bumps on our heads (sebaceous cysts) that sometimes get irritated when we brush our hair. And there are those traits that we could easily do without....
March 05th
I had a medical student earlier this month. She asked me when I decided to be a doctor. It sparked a few....memories....
1960: a favorite aunt asks me what I want to "be" when I grow up. "A doctor!" I answer. Uncle responds, "girls are nurses, men are doctors!"
