HI - Hilo, Hilo International Airport
...and he did. John Doe presented to the emergency room today. It is reported that he complained of being itchy, took a benedryl and then collapsed.
When the medics arrived, he was in full cardiac arrest, and received the full code treatment.
He arrived in er with fixed, dilated pupils, suffering occasional seizures, and completely unresponsive to voice or painful stimuli. The friends present at his collapse had disappeared, and there was no information regarding his history, age, or even his name.
Only the crack pipe found in his pocket gave the er physicians any clue. The excoriations on his abdomen and legs gave mute witness to the side effect of crystal meth: the "mites"---itchy patches over the skin surface.
When I left, he was fading away-- being maintained on a ventilator, seizing every few seconds, on powerful drugs as a last ditch attempt to maintain his blood pressure....and his life....a handsome Hawaiian man about 45.
His hit on the crack pipe was.....to die for.
