..the grime is gone.

We are blessed to be able to live on the Hamakua coast of Hawaii.  We are doubly blessed to be able to look out our windows and see the sea in all its glory.

Well, at least in theory.  In actuality, the view from upstairs is, to quote Corinthians, "through a glass, darkly."  The prior owner had covered the windows with shade/sun film, apparently to cut down on sun penetration and damage.

As with so many things the prior owner had done, this was done VERY poorly.....and the salty air permeated between the layers of the film, causing a gritty, white layer to form.  It was not so noticible until we had the behemoth removed from its prominent place in front of one-half of the glass door-wall. Once it was removed, the glass was clearly not clear. (Is that clear?)

So, today DH and I and my trusty steamer scraped, scratched and steamed the damn stuff off.

HEY!! There's an OCEAN out there!
